Four states open the door to automatic voter registration for Native Americans

Today, it is estimated that roughly one in four eligible Native Americans are not registered to vote. To increase the Native vote, four U.S. states — Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, and New Mexico — are implementing automatic voter registration (AVR) systems that benefit Native American communities. These AVR systems are expected to significantly boost voter participation in these communities by automatically enrolling eligible citizens when they interact with government agencies.
