HUSAYN ALLMART
Board Member
Husayn Allmart was born in Chile and immigrated to suburban Chicago when he was two. A service project on Standing Rock during high school set him on a personal and professional path. He stayed in touch with the families he met in high school and was recently adopted in ceremony on Cheyenne River, and given the name Čhanska Upíğila, or Sparrow Hawk. He also saw the importance of education and nonprofit work, first teaching at a juvenile detention center before moving into fundraising for a faith community. Four years ago, he moved into philanthropy as a Program Officer at Wayfarer Foundation. While there, he grew and coordinated the Native giving program and cohort, working with roughly 45 Native-led organizations from Hawaii to Maine. He is now Senior Giving Officer at Wayfarer Pathways, a donor-advised fund, where he continues his work to support Native-led nonprofits. He likes to travel with his family, embroider, and rock climb in his spare time.
