A team of nine linemen from Riviera Utilities volunteered for the “Light Up Navajo” initiative, spending 10 days in Chinle, Arizona, to help bring electricity to the Navajo Nation, where many families still live without power. Working long hours in harsh, unfamiliar terrain, the crew installed poles and power lines, ultimately providing electricity to nine families for the first time.

The experience was emotional and eye-opening for the linemen, who were shocked to learn that so many people in the U.S. still lack basic access to electricity. They described the gratitude and joy of the Navajo families and were deeply moved by the humility and kindness of the community. The trip left a lasting impression, with several linemen calling it the experience of a lifetime and expressing a desire to return. Since the program began in 2019, nearly 5,000 of 15,000 families have been connected to power, but much work remains.
