Indigenized Energy, a Native-led organization focused on sustainable solar energy systems for Tribes, has appointed Lorilee J. Morsette, MS, THRP, as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Morsette, a Native American from the Suquamish and Chippewa-Cree tribes, brings extensive experience in finance, management, and leadership. Previously, she served as President of National Accounts for Tribal Markets at Mutual of America Financial Group and led HR operations for the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
As COO, Morsette will oversee various operational areas, including program delivery, finance, human resources, and technology. Her appointment supports Indigenized Energy’s goal to expand its impact in 2025 and beyond. The organization recently received a $135.5M Solar for All grant from the EPA to support its initiatives.
Morsette’s leadership highlights her commitment to Native American advancement, combining her financial expertise with a dedication to tribal autonomy. Her appointment is also significant as Native women hold a small percentage of leadership roles in finance and solar industries. Indigenized Energy’s founder, Cody Two Bears, emphasized that Morsette’s experience and shared vision align perfectly with the organization’s goals.
