The 25th Navajo Nation Council kicked off its 2024 Fall Session with two significant awareness walks aimed at addressing domestic violence and promoting disability employment. The Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, led by Delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty, sought to raise awareness and advocate for safety and dignity in the community. Vice President Richelle Montoya and other officials participated, emphasizing the urgent need to combat domestic violence.

Simultaneously, the Council hosted a walk for National Disability Employment Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of inclusive employment opportunities. Speaker Crystalyne Curley and Delegate Dr. Andy Nez spoke about recognizing individuals beyond their disabilities and ensuring accessible services.

These events are part of the Council’s broader efforts to tackle domestic violence and enhance inclusivity for people with disabilities, reaffirming their commitment to safety and equitable opportunities for all Navajo citizens. Additional activities are planned, culminating in a disability conference on October 30. Overall, the initiatives reflect a commitment to meaningful change within the Navajo Nation.
