On Sunday afternoon, a tribute concert at The Standard in Norman aimed to honor Native American guitarist Jesse Ed Davis and raise funds for a scholarship supporting Native American musicians. Davis, originally from Norman and a University of Oklahoma alumnus, played with renowned artists such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Leon Russell. Douglas Miller, who recently published a biography about Davis, shared his journey of discovering Davis’s impact on music. The event was organized by the Music Moves Mountains Foundation, which focuses on making music education and therapy more accessible. Proceeds from the event, including donations and a silent auction, will fund the Jesse Ed Davis Scholarship, supporting aspiring Native musicians, particularly those interested in rock music.
