The Arizona Department of Education has partnered with the telehealth company Cartwheel to expand access to mental health care for students in rural areas. This initiative aims to address the growing mental health needs of youth, particularly in rural counties where accessing timely support has been challenging. The program will be available in 13 rural counties, serving 250 school districts and 200,000 students. It will help treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, and sleep issues, with parental consent required for participation. The program also offers support for uninsured students, as Cartwheel accepts all insurance. This partnership comes in response to the increasing rates of mental health issues, including depression and suicidal ideation, in Arizona.
