Over the years, Tina has fostered hundreds of dogs and cats. Overseeing the operations at Wolf Point Pound Puppies on the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana, she cares for countless animals who pass through the shelter each year, personally fostering as many as she can until they find permanent homes.

As our program partner, Tina receives supplies and support from Partnership With Native Americans® (PWNA) through our Reservation Animal Rescue® (RAR) program. “I appreciate the pet food, paper towels and potty pads.”

Her most recent dog foster was adopted through an animal shelter off the reservation, which helps with the strays. “There are too many loose dogs running around here. We see them out on the streets, fending for themselves. They need our help.” With RAR’s support, Pound Puppies offers monthly spay/neuter clinics to help with overpopulation.

Tina’s current foster is Wilma, a Jack Russell Terrier mix. Wilma is going to her new home as soon as her Brucella Canis test comes back negative. Canine brucellosis is a contagious bacterial infection that can cause reproductive problems in dogs.

The apple of Tina’s eye is Abbie, her adopted 19-year-old Pomeranian. Abbie’s previous owner thought she was sick when, really, she just had a bad tooth. Tina welcomed Abbie to the animal shelter and started her on antibiotics. Senior dogs are usually the last to be chosen with a 25% adoption rate, but Tina decided to make Abbie family. “I didn’t think she was going to last very long, but we’ve had her three years. She has been a great little dog. She expects to go to bed at 9 p.m. each night and will prance around until I get the hint that it’s bedtime. Despite her age, she loves jumping around and going outside. She really likes wintertime.”
