1. What scholarships are available?
  1. Undergraduate - Students pursuing a Bachelor or Associate's degree
    1. DEADLINE: April 4th (submit before March 1st for one extra point.)
    2. Up to $2,000/school year (½ Fall & ½ Spring – If your school is on the quarter system, your financial aid office will determine how to split the funds).
  2. Graduate - Students pursuing a master’s degree, Doctorate, or PhD
    1. DEADLINE: April 4th (submit before March 1st for one extra point.)
    2. Up to $2,000/school year (½ Fall & ½ Spring – If your school is on the quarter system, your financial aid office will determine how to split the funds).
  3. Vocational - Students pursuing a certification/degree in a specialized field or trade.
    1. DEADLINE: Rolling
    2. $500 - $2,000 per year

Please visit our website aiefprogram.org to find the online application. The link will take you to a separate site where you will create a login/profile and begin your application.

  1. Are you enrolled in a federally recognized tribe?
    1. If yes, then you will submit a copy of your tribal card/enrollment document.
    2. If no, you can demonstrate lineage by submitting a copy of your parent’s enrollment document/card. (Must be parental enrollment, not grandparent)
  2. If you know that you are Native American but do not know if you are enrolled, please check with your tribe’s enrollment office.
  3. If you are Native Hawaiian, please submit a copy of your OHA Hawaiian Registry card or other relevant documentation (no confidential/restricted information.)

 

Yes, we have a vocational scholarship that may be your best option, but depending on full-time attendance and during a traditional Fall/Spring school year, you may be eligible for the UG scholarship.

You may apply for both, but you are only able to receive one.

Yes – we encourage students to apply each year if they meet the criteria.

 

That’s okay - we encourage you to apply! Most of our awarded students have a GPA between 2.0 – 3.5.

Not necessarily. If you are an incoming freshman and you have taken the ACT and/or SAT, we request that you submit your score sheets in the designated section online.

    1. If you have not taken the tests or are taking them after the scholarship deadline, you do not need to provide them.
    2. If you are not going to be a college freshman, they are not necessary.

If the school is strictly online, and does not offer traditional on-campus courses, then it may not be eligible.

However, if you are enrolled in an online program at a school that offers in-person classes, then you are eligible.

No, as we fund tuition as a priority first.

This scholarship covers tuition first. However, if that is covered, the funds can be applied towards other expenses under your financial aid account (housing, food, books, etc.)

  1. UG & Grad: Mid-July. (You can log in to your portal at any time to check your status.)
  2. Vocational: Please reach out regarding your status.

If you are a non-traditional student, please demonstrate your community involvement through any activities you may currently be involved in. (ie: tribal/volunteer activities, committees, employment, etc.)

However, we encourage you to further state your activities within your essay.

We ask that you please describe your financial need/plans to fund your educational goals within your essay.

Any high resolution, color photo will do. (Please only submit a photo of the student applying.)

  1. Can this award be used in the summer?
    1. UG & Grad: Unfortunately, no. The scholarship is awarded for a full school year (fall & spring semester.) If your school is on the quarter system, your financial aid office will determine how to split the funds.
    2. Vocational: Yes! Only if the program is less than a year, to where it runs throughout the summer months.

Yes, we have a Graduate Application.

Yes, but they need to be accepted into and attending an accredited college/university in the United States.
